Fatal on Central Coast, Nov. 14

On November 11, 2016 at approximately 7 PM, Oregon State Police and emergency personnel responded to SR-20 at Pioneer Trail (about MP 8) near Toledo, OR for a report of a two vehicle fatal crash. According to Sergeant Tony Bettencourt, the preliminary investigation revealed a 1995 Buick Lesabre operated by Angelica N. KENNY (from Toledo, Oregon) , age 22, and passenger Evan M WIXTED (from Toledo, Oregon), age 24, had stopped at the stop sign at the intersection of Pioneer Trail / SR-20. KENNY failed to yield to oncoming traffic when she turned westbound and entered onto SR-20. Kenny’s vehicle was struck by an eastbound 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee being driven by a 17 year old male from Philomath with a 17 year old female passenger also from Philomath. KENNY was pronounced deceased on the scene. WIXTED and the 17 year old driver and 17 year old passenger were transported to Samaritan Pacific Hospital in Newport by ambulance. WIXTED suffered serious injuries and went to emergency surgery. Both juveniles received minor injuries and were treated and released.
