Two 18-year old Coos Bay males were killed and a 16-year old female, believed to be from North Bend, was flown to a hospital in Springfield with life threatening injuries following a three-vehicle accident in the Millington area south of Coos Bay on Hwy. 101 Sunday afternoon, Feb. 5.  Coos Co. District Attorney, R. Paul Frasier, stated in a news release that he was not prepared to release the names of the deceased until family notification was completed.  The three were reportedly in a Mitsubishi vehicle that was southbound at “an excessive rate of speed” near milepost 241 about 1:30 p.m. when it rounded a corner, lost control and crashed head-on with an Oregon State Police fish & game patrol truck.  A third vehicle attempted to avoid the accident, but did make contact.  The four occupants of that vehicle were not injured.  The Trooper was transported to Bay Area Hospital in Coos Bay with non-life threatening injuries and was expected to be released that evening.
