On July 8, 2017 at about 5:20 p.m., Troopers from the Coos Bay Area Command of the Oregon State Police responded to assist the Coos County Sheriff’s Office on a single vehicle crash near milepost 7.5 on East Bay Road near Timber Park Lane. (East of Coos Bay). The preliminary investigation revealed a white 1996 Ford Mustang was traveling eastbound and for unknown reasons, traveled off the roadway an into the eastbound ditch, coming to a rest against the trees down an embankment. The driver and sole occupant, identified as 64 year old Coos Bay resident, Arne Berge, was pronounced deceased at the scene by emergency responders. Both speed and impairment are believed to be a contributing factor in the crash.
