On November 26, 2016 at approximately 6PM, OSP Troopers and emergency personnel were dispatched to a fatal motor vehicle crash on SR 212 just east of SE Tong Road (Damascus). Preliminary investigation revealed that a 2004 Toyota Corolla was traveling eastbound on Highway 212 when it entered the westbound lane of travel where it was struck by a westbound by a 1998 Honda Accord. The driver of the Toyota, William D ISAKSON, age 58, of Boring, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the Honda, Aurelio M LOPEZ GOMEZ, age 49, of Salem, was taken to Oregon Health and Science University for non-life threatening injuries. Highway 212 was closed for about four hours (established detour in place) while the investigation was conducted.
