On Saturday, September 28, 2019 at approximately 8:00 P.M.Oregon State Police Troopers and emergency personnel responded to a single vehicle crash on Hwy 214 near milepost 37. Preliminary investigation revealed that a gold 1996 Chevrolet Blazer was traveling northbound on Hwy 214 near Forest Ridge Rd. when for an unknown reason the Chevrolet drove off the roadway and rolled. The 16 year old female operator from Hubbard sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The 16 year old female passenger from Salem was transported to Silverton Hospital with minor injuries. Speed and failing to wear a seatbelt are being investigated as possible contributing factors.
