On Saturday, September 8, 2018 at approximately 1:50 AM, Oregon State Police and emergency personnel responded to a single vehicle crash on Hwy 281 near milepost 4.5. Investigation reveals that a 1998 Ford F-150 PU, operated by James TICKNER (22) of Parkdale, was southbound on Hwy 281 when the vehicle left the roadway, went through a ditch, struck and embankment before crossing over Blackburn Rd before coming to rest and catching fire. TICKNER sustained fatal injuries in the crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Speed and substance use are believed to be contributing factors.
