On Monday, September 3, 2018 at approximately 2:56PM, Oregon State Troopers and emergency personnel responded to the report of a single vehicle crash on US Hwy 395 at milepost 53.1. The preliminary investigation revealed that a black 2016 Dodge Ram operated by Alexander Ionita, age 62, of Salem, OR. was traveling north bound on US Hwy 395. Ionita failed to negotiate a left hand turn in the road and rolled down an embankment into Camas Creek. Ionita was wearing a seatbelt but sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
