News release from the Coos Co. Sheriff’s Office. On 01-23-16 at approximately 2250 Hours, Coos County Sheriff’s Deputies and Bandon Police Officers responded to 85877 North Fork Road, near Bandon, Coos County, Oregon regarding the report of an accidental injury from a firearm at that location. During this investigation it was discovered that 24-year old Ian Geer, of Bandon, had accidentally shot himself in his right hand while putting away a firearm. I was further discovered that Mr. Geer was a corrections client, currently on probation and prohibited from possessing firearms. Mr. Geer was transported by Bay Cities Ambulance and treated for his injury at Bay Area Hospital. Ian Geer was taken into custody for Felon in Possession of a Firearm and Parole Violation. Mr. Geer was transported to the Coos County jail where he was lodged.
