Two structures on the property of a missing 68-year old Newport fisherman burned Sunday, March 27, near the community of Logsden on the Central Oregon Coast. Mike Morgan’s boat the White Swan III capsized off of Florence Saturday, March 26. He was never found but a body of a crew-member, Billie Jo Hooton was recovered by the US Coast Guard. A manufactured home and shop on the site of a family-owned Christmas Tree Farm are considered a total loss. No one was injured during the Mutual Aid Call involving fire crews from Siletz, Toledo, Newport and Depoe Bay. The Coast Guard had suspended its search for Morgan just hours earlier.
