The Bureau of Land Management Coos Bay District and the Coos Bay Chapter of the Surfrider Foundation are teaming up to install fire pits on Bastendorff Beach. Volunteers will install the pits to provide a place for visitors to have small fires on the beach, and help minimize the occurrence of large bon fires that leave nails and other debris on the beach. The work is part of continued efforts to improve the safety and the visitor experience at the popular beach.
