SALEM, Ore.—ODFW’s Fish Restoration and Enhancement Board will meet Jan. 16-17. Thursday’s meeting is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the ODFW Headquarters, 4034 Fairview Industrial Dr. SE, Salem. The board will not be reviewing any project proposals at this meeting. The agenda includes update on projects, discussion with management, and a work session related to program and strategic planning. The meeting is open to the public. On Friday, Jan. 17 the board will drive to the Newport area for a tour that includes discussion with a high school program and ODFW Marine Resources Program staff. Members of the public may accompany the group during the tour but must provide their own transportation. For additional information on the field trip, contact STEP Program staff at (503) 947-6232. Created by the Oregon Legislature in 1989, the Fish Restoration and Enhancement Program is funded by a surcharge on sport and commercial fishing licenses and commercial poundage fees. The program’s seven-member citizen board reviews fish restoration and enhancement project proposals and makes funding recommendations to the Oregon Fish and Wildlife Commission.
