Fishhawk Loop Fire now 70% Contained, Oct. 19

ODF release – The Fishhawk Loop Fire in the Clatsop State Forest is now 70% contained and remains at about 120 acres. This will be the final update unless conditions change. The fire began October 14 at approximately 5 p.m. off of Fishhawk Loop, about 9 miles southwest of Clatskanie, with multiple partner agencies responding to the fire. All of the fire is on state-owned land. Operations: A type 3 team remains in place. Active mop-up is underway, and a local team is expected to take over command of the fire later this week. Cause: Under investigation; Evacuations: None. Road Closures: Fishhawk Loop Road is closed to allow safe entry for firefighters into and out of the fire. The Oregon Department of Forestry, Astoria District is still in fire season with Public Use Restriction as Moderate.
