Flu Bites – Oregon’s Weekly Influenza Surveillance Report, May 7

Flu Bites Report for Week 17, April 22-28, 2018 – This will be the last Flu Bites report of the 2017-2018 season. We will resume our reports in October. Summary: During Week 17, 1.1% of all emergency department visits in Oregon were due to influenza-like illness (ILI). Among Oregon labs reporting to the National Respiratory and Enteric Virus Surveillance System (NREVSS) and the state health department, 8.2% of specimens tested were positive for influenza. 3 influenza-related hospitalizations were reported during the week in the Portland tri-county metropolitan area. 1 ILI/influenza-related outbreaks was reported.
