News release from the Coos Co. Sheriff’s Office: On 1/24/15 at approximately 1630 hrs, the Coos County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to an injury accident at approximately mile post 1.1 on the 3000 line (Mill Creek Rd) in Powers. While en route the 15 year old juvenile male from Powers, who was operating a Honda dirt bike, was transported to Coquille Valley Hospital by Myrtle Point Ambulance and later life-flighted to a Portland Hospital with head injuries. The Juvenile was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident. The operator of the Yamaha quad, Jeffrey Johnson and his passenger, Keri Johnson, both of Powers received minor injuries. They were treated at the scene and released. From the investigation it appears that the juvenile, on the dirt bike, was traveling north up the road, cut a corner and crashed into Jeff Johnson and Michelle Keri, on the quad, who were traveling south down the road. The investigation is still continuing.
