Free Movie Showing at North Bend Public Library, Jan. 22

Will you be watching the big NBA games for MLK Day? Even if you don’t care about hoops, you’ll want to go to the North Bend Public Library on Wednesday, January 22nd, to see a free movie at 3:30 p.m. This movie celebrates two people reaching for their dreams on the courts, who just might be made for each other, too. It’s got some of the best pick-up and full-court action you’ll see in a fiction film, with characters in a story you won’t forget. Critics and audiences loved this movie when it came out in 2000. It’s rated PG-13, and lasts 118 minutes (just under 2 hours). Light refreshments will be served. Monica and Quincy meet playing basketball when they’re 11 years old. They grow up together, best friends and best opponents on the court. She has at least as much talent and ambition as he does for the game, but when she’s in college in the late 1980’s there is no WNBA to aim for. Can they both do the thing they love most—pro ball—and still be together? “We wish we could tell you the title in print,” said North Bend Public Library Assistant Director Abbie Anderson, “but the terms of our contract to show movies legally in public also say we shouldn’t compete with local movie theaters by promoting our movie titles outside of the library.” Want to know what it is? Visit the North Bend Public Library at 1800 Sherman Avenue, or give the library a call at 541-756-0400 during open hours (Mon.-Fri. 10-6, Sat. 1-6). This event is free and open to the public.
