This month’s screening of the “Friday Foreign Film” series at Coos Bay Public Library will be held a week later than usual on Friday, November 18th at 7:00 p.m. The heart-warming road movie Intimate Stories (Argentina, 2002) is this month’s feature. In the Argentine Patagonia region three people travel from their small home town of to the provincial town San Julian in search of answers and adventure. Don Justo used to run a market in a small community in Southern Argentina, but failing eyesight and the loss of his driver’s license has led him to retire. However, when he learns that the dog he lost several years ago was seen in San Julian, he sets out to find him, prepared to walk all the way if he must. Roberto, a lonely, fastidious traveling salesman hopes to win the widow of his dreams by bringing a cake to San Julian for her child’s birthday. Maria, a wife and mother who has been struggling to hold her family together after her husband lost his job is invited to appear on a television game show, and hopes to win the grand prize of a new food processor. In the end, all three may get what they set out for, but it will come to them in ways that they never expected. The “Friday Foreign Film” series, sponsored by the Friends of Coos Bay Public Library, is normally held on the second Friday of the month and is free to the public.
