The “Friday Foreign Film” series at Coos Bay Public Library continues at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, July 14th.  Award-winning actress Isabelle Huppert star in the 2016 French drama “Things to Come.” A fifty-something leftist philosophy professor (Huppert) is propelled into a midlife crisis after being squeezed between caring for her deteriorating mother (Edith Scob) and learning that her husband (André Marcon) wants to end their marriage. Nathalie is a dedicated and demanding teacher, wife, and mother. She runs her relationships with the same rigour she brings to her study of philosophy. But when Nathalie’s husband announces that he’s leaving her for another woman, the meticulously crafted structures on which her existence is founded begin to crumble. Truly on her own for the first time, except for a less-than-grateful cat, Natalie is daunted by this new world — until she finds an unlikely friend in a former student, the radical young communist Fabien (Roman Kolinka). Winner of the Best Director award at the 2016 Berlin International Film Festival, the acclaimed new film from Mia Hansen-Love (Eden) is a soul-searching look at what it means to create a life of one’s own. The “Friday Foreign Film” series, sponsored by the Friends of Coos Bay Public Library, is normally held on the second Friday of the month and is free to the public.  Many of these films are not rated and parental/viewer discretion is advised.
