With two games remaining in the 2018 4A Far West League girls’ basketball race, Marshfield has a one game lead over second place Brookings-Harbor.  Both won games Friday night to stay on a collision course for the season finale between the two teams in Coos Bay on Friday, Feb. 16th.  Top ranked Marshfield won at So. Umpqua in Tri City Friday, 55-29, while the Bruins turned back North Bend at home 65-36.  Douglas maintained third place with a 42-29 win against Siuslaw at Florence.  On Tuesday, Marshfield (8-0, 20-2) travels to Douglas (5-3, 12-9) in Winston, fourth place So. Umpqua (3-5, 9-12) visits Brookings-Harbor (7-1, 13-9), and Siuslaw (0-8, 3-19) is at fifth place North Bend (1-7, 5-16).

Marshfield can clinch an outright 2018 4A Far West League boys basketball title with one win their last two games of the regular season.  The third-ranked Pirates won at South Umpqua 61-28 Friday to go two up on second place North Bend after the Bulldogs won at third place Brookings-Harbor 50-47.  Douglas is holding on to fourth despite losing at Siuslaw 57-49.  On Tuesday, Marshfield (8-0, 16-6) is at Douglas (3-5, 8-13), Siuslaw (2-6, 10-12) travels to North Bend (6-2, 12-9), and Brookings-Harbor (5-3, 11-11) hosts So. Umpqua (0-8, 4-17).
