Marshfield and Douglas are tied for first place in the 4A Far West girls’ basketball league with two games remaining in the regular season.  Both won their games Friday night to stay knotted at the top of the standings entering the final week.  Marshfield won at North Bend 54-49, while Douglas beat visiting So. Umpqua 60-23.  Brookings-Harbor won at home over Siuslaw 68-25.  On Tuesday, So. Umpqua (1-7, 5-17) plays at Marshfield (7-1, 16-6), Siuslaw (1-7, 6-15) at Douglas (7-1, 13-6) and Brookings-Harbor (3-5, 11-10) plays at North Bend (5-3, 13-8).

With two-game remaining in the 4A Far West League boys’ basketball season, North Bend wrapped up the 2016/17 title for first-year head coach Chris Emerson Friday night with a win at home over their Bay Area Rivals, Marshfield 44-33.  The Bulldogs cut the nets down following the win. With the loss, Marshfield slides back into a three-way tie for second place with Douglas and Siuslaw.  Douglas won at home 56-46 over So. Umpqua, while Siuslaw halted Brookings-Harbor late season rally with a 55-39 road win.  With two games to go in the regular season, Marshfield (4-4, 10-12) hosts So. Umpqua (1-7, 10-12) Tuesday night, while North Bend (8-0, 17-4) hosts Brookings-Harbor (3-5, 9-12) and Siuslaw (4-4, 9-12) visits Douglas (4-4, 8-12).
