The All League selections for the 2016/17 Far West League basketball seasons have been released. League champion North Bend was honored with MVP senior Tyler Brown, while fellow senior teammate Garrett Curtis as also named to the First Team in voting by the league’s coaches. Bulldog coach Chris Emerson, in his first year, was honored as Coach of the Year. Also named to the First Team were senior Scott Clough, Marshfield, junior Trent Reavis, Siuslaw, senior Cody Gray, South Umpqua, and junior Quinden Parson, Douglas. The All Defense Team included Marshfield sophomore Cory Stover, North Bend sophomore Jayden Frank, Siuslaw junior Jared Brandt, Douglas junior Damon Landry, South Umpqua junior Taylor Gross, and Brookings-Harbor senior Pat Fulton.

Far West League girls’ basketball champion Marshfield placed two on the First Team All League selections in voting by the conference’s coaches. Sophomore guard Tess Garrett was honored as Co-MVP, and was joined on the First Team by sophomore Alex Locati. Douglas senior Darian Mitchell earned the other portion of the MVP honor to go along with her MVP in volleyball. Marshfield coach Bruce Bryant was honored as the Coach of the Year. Also named to the First Team were North Bend sophomore Haley Snelgrove, Brookings-Harbor junior Abby Farmer and senior Sienna Worthey. Douglas junior Lainey Rincon was the other selection. Named to the All Defensive Team were North Bend sophomore Haley Edwards, Marshfield sophomore Jazmin Chavez, Siuslaw senior Abby Watkins, Brookings-Harbor junior Malie Leddy and South Umpqua sophomore Aneykah McCall.
