Marshfield (203) and North Bend (156) went one-two in the boy’s race, and Bulldogs (189.33) took first and Pirates (162) second in the girls race to highlight a 4A Far West League track meet in Coos Bay Tuesday. Siuslaw was third in both races (70-63), while Brookings-Harbor (50) grabbed fourth in the boys, followed by Douglas (41) & So. Umpqua (2). So. Umpqua (49.33) was fourth in the girl’s, followed by Brookings-Harbor (23), and Douglas (22). Individually, Marshfield’s Zach Kellar took first in the 200 (23.38), 400 (50.39 second best in state), and anchored both of the Pirate’s winning relay teams: 4X100 (Michah Tardie, Ethan Place, Devin Benson, Kellar) 44.32; and, 4X400 (Place, Jereny Roe, Devin Benson, Kellar) 3:40.98. The short relay was close, Pirates in 44.32, and North Bend in 44.53. Marshfield’s Phillip Hernandez set a PR in winning the Shot Put at 51-11, the third best mark in the 4A behind teammate Tyler Post’s 4A best 52-10. Pirate junior Chase Howerton set a season best in winning the Pole Vault (14-06). North Bend’s Teron Catanzaro won both the Long Jump (20-4.50) & Triple Jump (40-11). Marshfield’s Hannah Beaulieu won both the 100H (17.03) & 300H (49.94). The 4X100 Relay race was close with Marshfield winning 52.16 (Rayyn Miranda, Kaylee Delzottie, Ragan Rhodes, Hanna Beaulieu) to North Bend’s 52.67 (Haley Edwards, Cassidy Webber Makoa Matthews, Chelsea Howard). This weekend, Marshfield travels to Grants Pass, and North Bend to Gladstone.
