The Oregon Lions Sight & Hearing Foundation (OLSHF) along with the Lions Clubs of Lane County will team up with Audiologist Dr. Todd Landsberg of the South Coast Hearing Center for a unique “Hear for the Holidays” effort that will provide the gift of hearing for many people in need in Lane County. On Saturday, December 5 behind the Valley River Center Mall in Eugene, individuals who have been pre-approved by the Lions Club will be given a hearing test by Dr. Landsberg and who then be fitted with new Starkey Hearing Aids. Dr. Landsberg, who is based in Coos Bay, will have his mobile hearing facility behind the Valley River Center Mall in the parking lot to assist the patients. “This is a wonderful program that will change lives for the holidays,” says Dr. Landsberg. “Individuals who would normally miss out on family festivities will now be able to participate fully. It will make for a great holiday and beyond.” The Lions Clubs and Dr. Landsberg hope to fit up to 12 people during the event. Many of those individuals struggle with serious hearing issues and will walk out with normal hearing. The American icon Helen Keller once said those with vision impairments are disconnected with things, but those with hearing impairments are disconnected from people. We are thrilled that “Hear for the Holidays” will connect people with their loved ones.
