Graffiti in Downtown CB, July 9

CBPD release – Over the past several weeks the Coos Bay Police Department has seen an increase in graffiti and criminal mischief calls. The graffiti has been found on various buildings, fences, sidewalks, and business signs. This morning, July 8, 2020 at approximately 0830 hours, Coos Bay Police Department was notified of new graffiti that had occurred sometime during the night between the hours of 6:30pm and 8:00am. The new graffiti was found at The World Newspaper business located on Commercial Ave. in downtown area of Coos Bay. The graffiti covered the front sidewalk and was also found on their business sign. The graffiti made several offensive comments regarding The World Newspaper, as well as, city staff and city officials. At this time no suspect(s) responsible for this act has been identified. At approximately 12:00pm the Coos Bay Police Department received another report of graffiti at Sunset Middle School in the Empire area of Coos Bay. The graffiti showed a painted peace sign and referenced “All Lives Matter.” Officers responded to the area and photographed the graffiti. At this time no suspect(s) responsible for this act has been identified. The Coos Bay Police Department is asking for the assistance of the community by reporting these types of activity immediately. This type of criminal activity is unacceptable in our community and will not be tolerated.
