A Eugene barber says he wrestled with a Great White Shark off Bandon last month, and he has a photo to prove it. Pete Peterson was halibut fishing with his son and two others on May 23rd when a large fish “hit” his line. They spent nearly two-and-a-a-half hours trying to reel their catch in, but it eventually snapped the line. However, they were able to maneuver it close to the charter boat when its dorsal fin appeared. Peterson snapped his once in a lifetime photo. The debate is now on. Was it a Great White Shark? Some say yes, but others are skeptical. An official with the ODFW says Great Whites swimming off the Oregon Coast are rare and hooking one is something not normally heard.
