A Great White Shark is believed to be responsible for the deaths of four mammals off the North Oregon Coast. Officials say they have found the remains of two harbor seals, a stellar sea lion and a dolphin on the beach between Gearhart and Fort Stevens in Clatsop Co. Surfers and swimmers are being warned to not go in the ocean waters at dawn or dusk, or during a large diatom bloom. Necropsies performed on the mammals showed each were alive when bitten, and the shark removed enough flesh to leave roughly an 18-inch hole. Sharks were also reportedly in the area back in January and also killed some prey.
