Guilty of Murder, July 31

A Coos Bay male was sentenced to life in prison, with a 25-year minimum sentence before parole, Monday, July 30, in a Coos Co. Courtroom at the Courthouse in Coquille.  James Jay Thomasson pled guilty to the murder of his grandfather, 80-year old Elmer Dennis, on December 10, 2017, “by stabbing him multiple times with a knife.”  According to District Attorney R. Paul Frasier, “Thomasson will be transferred by the end of the week to the custody of the Oregon Department of Corrections which will decide which correctional institution Mr. Thomassaon will serve his sentence.”
