The Oregon Health Authority is reminding the public that a precautionary recreational use health advisory for the 2019 cyanobacterial (harmful algal) bloom season remains in effect for Lake Billy Chinook due to cyanobacterial blooms that routinely develop in the lake. Oregon Health Authority is not aware of any cyanobacterial blooms in the lake at this time. However, blooms can develop throughout the season and in areas that are not visually monitored by Jefferson County, Oregon State Parks or the U.S. Forest Service.
Lake Billy Chinook is located about 12 miles west of Madras, in Jefferson County. The advisory will remain in effect through Nov. 1, 2019.
