PacificSource Health Plans has committed $50,000 to the Heartfelt Guest House, a new guest house for patients and their families who are seeking care at the PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center, located at RiverBend and the University District in Springfield, Ore. The new Guest House will be constructed on the Medical Center’s RiverBend campus and will feature 20 guest rooms that will accommodate an estimated 1,500 patients and families per year. “We are so pleased to help support this much needed ‘home away from home’ for Sacred Hearts patients and their families,” said Ken Provencher, president and CEO of PacificSource. “This new patient family Guest House will have a profound impact on families in crisis who have to leave their homes and jobs to attend to their loved ones.” “On behalf of PeaceHealth, we extend our heartfelt gratitude for PacificSource’s generous contribution to this very important project,” said Rand O’Leary, chief executive of the PeaceHealth Oregon Network. “With the construction of our RiverBend campus nearly ten years ago, it became clear that a Guest House was of the utmost priority. The construction of the Heartfelt Guest House will be an important milestone for us.” Sacred Heart’s current guest house accommodates about 300 families per year and is not located on the hospital’s campus. The Heartfelt Guest House is funded 100% through philanthropy in conjunction with PeaceHealth, the Ronald McDonald House Charites, and the Sacred Heart Medical Center Foundation.
