Helping Fish Habitat, June 9

Pacific Power customers who have chosen to support renewable energy through the Blue Sky Habitat program are directly helping restore Oregon native fish habitat throughout the state. Blue Sky funds are financing projects that protect and enhance native fish habitat in Oregon’s Rogue, Illinois, Bear Creek and Clackamas watersheds, under the guidance of The Freshwater Trust, along with other project partners.  More than $102,500 from the Blue Sky Habitat program this year has gone to projects in these watersheds in this year alone. Work is expected to be completed by the end of 2014, providing long-term ecosystem benefits.  Since 2002, Pacific Power’s Blue Sky Habitat customers have voluntarily contributed to 73 distinct habitat improvement projects throughout Oregon, enhancing more than 176 miles of rivers and streams.  In Southwest Oregon, A riparian improvement project received funding for the Rogue River Watershed at Bear Creek, and a streamflow restoration project on Deer Creek, within the Illinois River Watershed, also received money.
