News release CCSO. On December 12, 2016, at about 1451 hours, Coos County Sheriff’s Deputies observed a green 1996 BMW traveling east bound on Highway 42 near mile post 1. This vehicle was reported stolen from Coquille Police Department the day prior. Deputies stopped the vehicle near Highway 42 and Cedar Point Road in Coquille. Deputies were able to get the driver out of the vehicle and into custody for Unlawful Use of a Motor Vehicle. A subsequent search of the vehicle yielded several used syringes that appeared to contain heroin in them. The suspect was identified as Cody Laird, 24 years old of North Bend. Laird was transported to the Coos County Jail and booked on the above charges. Deputies were assisted by Coquille Police Department.
