A Waldport-area man was arrested Tuesday by members of the Lincoln Interagency Narcotics Team (LINT) on heroin-related charges after his arrest during a traffic stop in Lincoln County. On May 13, 2014, LINT detectives along with members of the Newport Police Department, Oregon State Police, and Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) arrested NICK COLEMAN PINNING, age 29, during a traffic stop in South Beach. LINT received a tip that he was coming to Newport from his Waldport residence and had controlled substances packaged for sale in his possession. Detectives waited for his vehicle and once observed he was stopped by a LCSO deputy. A Newport officer’s K-9 was deployed and alerted on the vehicle. Based on probable cause detectives searched PINNING’S vehicle and found over 2 ounces of heroin along with scales and drug paraphernalia. Multiple containers of prescription narcotics were also seized. PINNING was arrested for Unlawful Manufacture, Delivery, and Possession of a Controlled Substance – Heroin, and Unlawful Possession of Prescription Narcotics. He was lodged in the Lincoln County Jail in Newport. PINNING had reportedly been selling heroin in Lincoln County for several months supplying numerous persons in the Lincoln County area.
