High Winds & Dry Weather Increase Fire Danger, Oct. 31

Strong east winds are causing wildfire danger levels to climb. Southwestern Oregon is experiencing a similar weather pattern as California, and Coos Forest Protective Association (CFPA) has responded to four fires since Sunday. Three fires were caused by escaped debris burns and the fourth is powerline related. CFPA urges residents to exercise caution and refrain from debris burning until this weather pattern changes. Consequences for failing to burn safely can include citations as well as being billed for fire suppression costs. For more information on fire prevention information contact CFPA at www.coosfpa.net, the Closure Line at (541) 297-1789, or follow us on Facebook and Twitter.
