Historic Liberty Theatre begins excavation this week to prepare for the construction of ADA bathrooms, Sept. 15

The Liberty Theatre, home of Little Theatre on the Bay, is pleased to announce excavation will begin this week to prepare for the construction of the 1364‐square foot expansion, which includes ADA restrooms, and a family room with baby nursing area. Knutson Towboat is providing the equipment and services for this week’s excavation. Previous work on the site included a retaining wall installed by West Coast Contractors. According to Jeanne Woods, the expansion was made possible only by the generosity of the community, “Were it not for the many grants we have received and the support of our community this project would not have been possible. We are very grateful to everyone.” Since 1959, the LTOB has operated and managed North Bend’s historic Liberty Theatre as a performing arts venue serving residents and visitors to Coos County. The restoration project is designed to ensure North Bend’s 92 year-old Liberty Theatre’s role as the architectural and cultural hub of the community is preserved and protected in time for the centennial celebration of the building’s opening scheduled for spring 2024. The Little Theatre on the Bay (LTOB) is a 501(c)(3) non‐profit organization whose mission is “to cultivate the arts in Coos County.”
