Historic Liberty Theatre fundraiser to be held at the Egyptian Theatre , Aug. 11

The Liberty Theatre, home of Little Theatre on the Bay, is pleased to announce it will be the recipients of proceeds from an Opry Variety Show at the Egyptian Theater, in Coos Bay. These funds will support Phase II of restoration, including construction of the 1364‐square foot south end of the first floor expansion, which includes ADA restrooms, a family room with baby nursing area. This project also addresses the purchase and installation of new seats, including ADA supportive seating in the auditorium. Scheduled for Sunday, August 21 at 3pm, LTOB’s Little Ole Opry on the Bay will present Directors Shirley Kintner and Becky Engle most popular acts from the 2016 Opry series as well as some crowd favorites from previous seasons to the Egyptian Theater. The Little Ole Opry shows over the month of July, at the Liberty Theatre, have been very popular and because the Liberty stage will be occupied with the upcoming production of “Nunsense”, the musical, this is an opportunity to join with the Egyptian Theater to highlight the Little Ole Opry’s best performances. According to Director Shirley Kintner, the 2015 fundraiser at the Egyptian Theater was a big success and this August 21st finale for the 35th season of Little Ole Opry on the Bay will be a perfect way for our community to come out and support the Liberty Theatre Restoration Project and to celebrate the talent of local singers and musicians. Tickets purchased in advance are $10 and are available by calling the Liberty Theatre Box Office at 541-756-4336 (leave a message) or at the box office 2100 Sherman Avenue Wednesday’s 10-1, or online at www.thelibertytheatre.org, or at the door one hour before show time. Since 1959, the LTOB has operated and managed North Bend’s historic Liberty Theatre as a performing arts venue serving residents and visitors to Coos County. The restoration project is designed to ensure North Bend’s 92 year-old Liberty Theatre’s role as the architectural and cultural hub of the community is preserved and protected in time for the centennial celebration of the building’s opening scheduled for spring 2024. The Little Theatre on the Bay (LTOB) is a 501(c)(3) non‐profit organization whose mission is “to cultivate the arts in Coos County.”
