The Sheriff’s Office is investigating human remains that were located on the beach about 2.6 miles north of the North Umpqua Jetty in Gardiner. The remains were located this Wednesday morning, Feb. 10, at about 9:30 a.m., by a man who was riding his ATV on the beach. At this time we are unable to positively identify the remains. They will be transported to the State Medical Examiner’s Office, who will assist with the identification, as well as the cause and manner of death.
