A fatal accident was reported on Hwy. 101, milepost 220, south of Reedsport Monday afternoon, Feb. 10. The Oregon State Police report the crash was near Kendall Estates Lane. “One vehicle, off road, non-blocking.” News release from the Oregon State Police. “Oregon State Police (OSP) is continuing the investigation into Monday afternoon’s single vehicle fatal traffic crash that occurred along Highway 101 south of Reedsport in Douglas County. The victim’s name will be released Tuesday. On February 10, 2014 at approximately 1:15 p.m., a 2005 Chevrolet Avalanche driven by a 68-year old male was traveling on Highway 101 near milepost 220 between Kendall Estates Lane and Wildwood Road when it traveled off the highway and crashed into several trees. The driver was pronounced deceased at the scene. OSP troopers from the Coos Bay Area Command office are continuing the investigation. Speed is believed to be a contributing factor and safety restraint use is pending confirmation.
