On 05-29-15 at approximately 8:47pm OSP and Tillamook County Sheriffs Deputies responded to a single vehicle, single occupant fatal crash on US 101 MP Z48. At 8:33pm Tillamook County 911 received a driving complaint, of a possible intoxicated driver, driving a 2005 Volkswagen Jetta traveling southbound from Nehalem Bay State Park. Tillamook County and OSP-Tillamook attempted to locate the vehicle when a crash was reported with the same vehicle near milepost Z48. The vehicle was driven by Mr. Jeffrey A. Barnwell (age 26) from West Linn. Roadway evidence indicated Mr. Barnwell’s vehicle was southbound on US 101 when the vehicle left the roadway, went over the southbound embankment, and struck a tree approximately 15 feet from the ground. Mr. Barnwell was the only occupant and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
