Work has begun for the addition of a left turn lane on U.S. 101 at NE East Devils Lake Road. You’ve likely seen crews onsite removing vegetation. ODOT’s contractor has been working closely with the utilities that are moving their lines and poles as part of the overall construction project. Roadway construction will begin Monday night, Feb. 29. We’ll be holding an Open House on: Monday, Feb. 29, 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Faith Baptist Church, 5750 North Highway 101, Lincoln City. Come talk with us about what you can expect this summer during construction, and what the intersection will look like when it’s completed. This safety project will add a left turn lane for southbound traffic on U.S. 101 to turn on to NE East Devils Lake Road. It will raise the grade of NE East Devils Lake Road to allow people to see approaching traffic better. Shoulders will also be widened. This will provide additional safety in the area when completed, but will also allow construction work to go on with less impact to traffic this summer. Thousands of cars, trucks, and motor homes move through this corridor on a daily basis, and there have been a number of crashes at the intersection. These improvements will help traffic move through the area in a safer manner. Initial site clearing along U.S. 101 and NE East Devils Lake Road began in February to prepare for construction. Utilities are also being moved. The $2.68 million project began in February and should be completed by the end of summer. What you should expect to see during the project: Utility relocation and tree clearing/grubbing – Nearly completed; Construction of two pipe crossings on U.S. 101– Night work only, single lane closure at nighttime, (duration approximately 1 week); West side widening and striping on U.S. 101- Daytime work, expect congestion, (duration approximately 2 months); East side widening and striping on U.S. 101- Daytime work, expect congestion (duration approximately 1.5 months); NE East Devils Lake Roadwork includes raising grade and matching driveways- Full closure Mon- Thurs 7a.m. to10 p.m. Open for weekends- local access only (duration 1 month approximately.) Note: The construction schedule is subject to change.
