Report from ODOT: LANE COUNTY – US101: Cooks Chasm – Sutton Creek Sec. (MP167.23 to MP184.80). This project will pave approximately 17 miles on the Oregon Coast Highway. Signs and guardrail will be replaced and/or adjusted. A new bridge membrane will be placed to protect Sutton Creek Bridge and surfacing stabilization work will be done on the bridge ends at both Sutton Creek and Big Creek. A new retaining wall will be constructed near Heceta Head Lighthouse, as well as two others just to the south of Southview Lane. The job is expected to be completed by mid-September. Mainline paving will continue Sunday through Thursday nights. Watch for truck traffic, workers and equipment entering and exiting the work area. Maintenance activities may also be taking place within the project limits as well. US101: Siuslaw R Bridge (Florence), Cathodic Protection (MP190.8 – MP191.21). This project will make repairs to the existing concrete and reinforcement and replace the cathodic protection system on the Siuslaw River Bridge. Seismic restraints to help maintain the integrity of the bridge in an earthquake will also be added. A new ornamental bridge rail will replace the existing rail along with improved pedestrian access to the bridge. Work is to be completed by the end of March 2019. Single lane closures, controlled by flaggers and for a short duration with pilot car, will be used for materials transfers, bridge rail and other roadwork on the approaches to the bridge. Delays may be up to 20 minutes but will normally be 5 minutes or less. US101: Siuslaw River Bridge – Douglas County Line (MP191.15 to MP198.58). This project will repave the highway and restripe this corridor. Over the next two months motorists can expect up to 20 minute delays as the contractor removes poor pavement and repaves the highway. This mostly nighttime project will occur during Sunday nights to Friday mornings 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. Traffic will be controlled by flaggers and pilot car. This project is scheduled to be completed September 2016.
