On September 5, 2018 at approximately 2:22 PM Oregon State Police Troopers and emergency personnel responded to the report of a three vehicle crash on Hwy 126E at the Dearhorn Rd. intersection. Investigation revealed that 2007 Lexus G35, operated by Guido VILLENA (86) of Springfield, was attempting to turn onto Hwy 126E from Dearhorn Rd. VILLENA pulled into the path of a 2014 Isuzu sanitation truck, operated by Mathew PEACOCK (29) of Springfield, causing a collision. A 2015 Jeep Cherokee, operated by Jason MILLER (29) of Arizona, was westbound on Hwy 126E and unable to avoid the initial collision. VILLENA sustained fatal injuries in the crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
