On Thursday, April 1, 2021 at approximately 12:30 P.M., Oregon State Police Troopers and emergency personnel responded to a two vehicle crash on Hwy 211 and Meridian Rd. Preliminary investigation revealed a Ford Explorer, operated by Richard Russell (84) of Keizer, was turning left from Meridian Rd. onto Hwy 211 and pulled into the path of a Peterbilt semi-truck operated by Gerald Fritz (55) of Lebanon. Russell sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased. Two passengers in the Ford Explorer, Bonnie Magoon (83) of Keizer was transported to Silverton Hospital and then by Life Flight to Emmanuel Hospital and Gary Gerstner (63) of Garberville, CA. was transported by Life Flight to Emmanuel Hospital. Fritz was not injured.
