On Sunday, July 23, 2023, at approximately 10:46 A.M., the Oregon State Police responded to a two-vehicle crash on Hwy-211, near milepost 25, in Clackamas County. The preliminary investigation indicated a green 1992 Toyota Camry, operated by Kristina Marie Copeland (32) of Gervais, was traveling northbound on Hwy-211 when, for an unknown reason, it crossed the center line and struck a blue 2004 Jeep Liberty, operated by Michelle Aretha Thornberg (48) of Sandy) head-on. The collision caused the Jeep to roll and come to a rest on its top. The operator (Copeland) of the Toyota was declared deceased at the scene. The operator (Thornberg) of the Jeep and passenger, a juvenile female, were transported to OHSU for medical treatment. The highway was impacted for approximately 4 hours during the on-scene investigation. OSP was assisted by Colton Fire, Clackamas County Medical Examiner’s Office, Clackamas Chaplains, and ODOT.
