Hwy. 26 Fatal, Dec. 2

On November 29, 2015 at about 5PM, OSP Troopers and emergency crews responded to the report of a multiple vehicle crash on Highway 26 at the junction of Highway 103 (25 miles east of Seaside). Upon arrival on the scene, emergency personnel discovered a three vehicle crash with at least one adult female deceased. At least two others were taken to Portland area hospitals. Preliminary information indicates a 2006 Pontiac sedan was traveling westbound on Highway 26 when it slowed to make a turn onto Highway 103. While the Pontiac was momentarily stopped waiting for passing traffic, it was rear-ended by a 1992 Ford F350. This impact pushed the Pontiac into the eastbound lanes of travel where it collided head-on with a 2004 Jeep Cherokee. The driver of the Pontiac, Tracy E RAMBO, age 53, of Seaside was pronounced deceased at the scene. Both occupants of the Jeep, Chase and Lilleana PIETZ, of Battle Ground, Washington were transported by ground ambulance to a Portland area hospital for non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the Ford F350, Dustin G HARROLD, age 20, of Cottage Grove was not injured. Highway 26 was closed for over four hours but did have an established detour. OSP was assisted by the Oregon Department of Transportation and Elsie Fire.
