On January 24, 2019 at approximately 2:00 P.M. Oregon State Police and emergency personnel responded to the report of a single vehicle crash on Hwy 26 near milepost 41 on the west side of the Dennis L. Edwards tunnel. Preliminary investigation revealed that a silver 2017 BMW X1 was eastbound and left the road, striking the stone tunnel embankment. The driver and only occupant, Brian Glover (52) of Lake Oswego, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Hwy 26 was closed for approximately three hours.
