Oregon State Police Troopers responded to vehicle vs pedestrian crash on February 3, 2017 at approximately 8:35pm. The crash occurred on Hwy 42 near Landers Lane, in Douglas County. When Troopers and emergency personnel arrived on scene the westbound lane was blocked and the pedestrian was pronounced deceased by emergency personnel. Preliminary investigation determined a 2007 Lincoln sedan operated by 76 year old CLAUDE F. STUMP of Roseburg was westbound on Hwy 42 when his vehicle struck the pedestrian, 57 year old TAMI LEE CAIRNS of Roseburg who was in the lane of travel and there was no cross walk. Neither alcohol nor speed appears to be a factor in regards to the driver. The driver was wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash remained on scene cooperated with the investigation.
