On Friday, March 25, 2022, at approximately 1:41 PM Oregon State Police and emergency personnel responded to a two-vehicle vehicle collision on Interstate 5 near MP 276. Preliminary investigation revealed a black Toyota Tacoma pickup, operated by Michael Lee Tu (35) of Woodburn, was traveling northbound on Interstate 5 when it rear-ended a Mack semi-truck towing a fully loaded trailer which was also northbound in the middle lane. The semi-truck was operated by Todd Holzwarth-Gunner (49) of Longview, Washington. At the time of the crash the semi-truck was traveling slowly due to heavy traffic. Michael Tu sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased. Interstate 5 was closed for approximately 3 hours while the scene was investigated. OSP was assisted by Woodburn Fire and ODOT.
