SALEM, Ore. – The Oregon Department of State Lands will host a public meeting the evening of Wednesday, Oct. 23 in Coos Bay to share information and answer questions about a possible proposal by Oregon State University to establish a research forest on the Elliott. Oregon State University will attend the meeting to help answer questions about the project. The meeting is informational only and is not a hearing for public testimony. In December 2018, the State Land Board directed the Department to work collaboratively with Oregon State University as it develops a plan for transforming the Elliott State Forest into a world-class research forest. The Land Board anticipates hearing the OSU proposal at its regular meeting on Dec. 18, which will be in Salem.
