News release Coos Co. Sheriff’s Office. On November 29, 2016, at about 1508 hours, Coos County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to mile post 12 on Seven Devils, in Coos Bay for a single vehicle accident. The vehicle, a 2008 Chevy 4 door went off the road and struck a tree. The operator of the vehicle, and only occupant, 50 year old Kathy Nix of Coos Bay, was able to get out of her vehicle. The vehicle was on fire at that time. When Charleston Fire Department arrived on scene, the vehicle was fully engulfed in flames. A passerby was able to help the driver away from the vehicle and to a safe location. Ms. Nix was transported by Bay Cities Ambulance to Bay Area Hospital with minor injuries. The vehicle was a total loss. Deputies believe wet road conditions and speed was a factor in the crash.
