News release from the Coos Co. Sheriff’s Office. On October 11, 2014 at approximately 12:02 AM Coos County Sheriff’s Deputies and Hauser Fire Department responded to a reported crash on Horsfall Beach, north of North Bend, Oregon. The crash was reported to be 1 mile north of the Horsfall parking lot campground on the beach. Hauser Fire Department and Bay Cities Ambulance responded in the dune rescue rigs and recovered the victim from the beach. Tyrell Schmoe, 25 years of age of Eugene was transported to the parking lot where he was transferred to a waiting ambulance. He was then taken to Bay Area Hospital. It was reported later that Mr. Schmoe had been airlifted to an unknown hospital in Oregon. It was reported he had two broken legs. Due to a major motor vehicle accident in the Elliot State Forest Sheriff’s Deputies were called away from this investigation and no further details on this accident are available as yet.
