Inquiry into the Top Federal Prosecutor in Oregon, March 16

A former Deputy District Attorney in Coos County, now the top federal prosecutor in Oregon, has taken a leave of absence for health reasons while the U.S. Justice Department is investigating a possible inappropriate relationship with a subordinate in her office. Amanda Marshall and the subordinate, Assistant U.S. Attorney Scott Kerin are both married. Investigators have reportedly been inside the U.S. Attorney Office in Portland for the last two weeks. Marshall was the surprise choice to the office in 2010. She was elevated from a child advocacy position in the Oregon Department of Justice with no previous experience as a federal prosecutor.
